Multiple Fenced Areas
We offer
multiple fenced fields, including a flat football sized
area. Each fenced area offers specific opportunities
for play, training or socialization. The segregation of
differing activities enables our community members to
select an area in which the activities match their
current goals and mood.
Play
Some of our
fenced and unfenced areas are reserved for simply
hanging out without any specific goals other than
relaxing and having fun in a safe social
envioronment.
The Creek
We have several
thousand feet of Sandy Cooper Creek bordering the park.
Surrounded by shade trees, containing numerous large
sand bars, providing lots of opportunity for play and
exploration. Some of the deeper areas provide an
excellent training ground for the beginning canine
swimmer.
Agility
We maintain a
selection of obstacles for all dogs to play and build
confidence on. We also offer competition agility
obstacles.
Retrieving
Training this
very useful exercise traditionally involves harsh
coercion. We offer a specifically designed retrieving
area designed to allow our members to train this
exercise using positive motivation.
Water Hose
In hot weather
its hard to exercise our dogs without over heating
them. We have found that chasing a moving stream of
water exercises our dogs very effectively. We maintain
fenced areas with deep wood chip ground coverings that
allow the safe pursuit of this activity. Dogs remain
cool, get exercised and come out clean as well.
Planned Activities
Periodically we
offer seminars, exhibitions and introductions to new
entertaining activities.
Digging Mountain
A mountain of
sand is a great way for a dog to get exercise. There
are several uses for soft ground in scent work. Scent
articles can be hidden from view allowing our dog to
use it's favorite sense to locate the hidden object.
Police departments often use this method to teach dogs
"active" identification of scents. Once our dog learns
to dig on command we can then teach it a out ( no
digging) command.
