Beekeeping
We have a small
apiary and will offer classes and help for those who
want to start or learn more about beekeeping. One of
the challenges in beekeeping is timing. Packaged bees
are only available for short time frames each year. One
needs to know when and what to do well in advance to
keep bees alive and thriving. We can help interested
parties through the first year of beekeeping reducing:
cost, loss of bees, poor hive development and poor
honey harvest often suffered by first year
beekeepers.
Chickens
A small flock
of chickens is easy to maintain and will keep your
family and friends supplied with fresh eggs. Raising
chickens requires knowledge of the what, when and where
much like raising bees does. Just like with bees; we
help interested parties plan out everything they need
to have and when and where they need it for the first
year.
Exercise
Yoga, Ti Chi,
Pilates...We will offer classes for activities that
have sufficient support.
Running and Walking
There are flat
and hilled trails where people may run or walk at what
ever pace they desire.
Worm Farming
Worms require a
minimum of care. They can consume large quantitys of
organic waste and convert it into castings that are
excellent for any garden. We maintain a small worm farm
and will offer starter classes when interest is
there.
Birds
We are big bird
fans. We maintain feeders with seed and "nectar" for a
large variety of birds. Our fruit gardens also attract
and feed the birds. We have a growing collection of
bird houses and bird baths. There are a variety of
birds of prey in the area that we try to help along. We
find that dogs in the vicinity of chicken coupes or
even free range chickens keeps them safe from the birds
of prey. We plan to offer classes on different aspects
of birding when there is demand.

interested in providing a place for those activities
that our members would like to pursue. If an activity
is consistent with our theme and there are enough
interested people to support it, we may be able to
provide the support necessary to make it happen.
